Digital Desk: Despite five rounds of counselling, including a special session, 1,456 seats for the NEET-PG 2021 exam remained vacant, the government informed the Lok Sabha on Friday (July 22). The unfilled seats at deemed universities have been reverted to the relevant universities, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said in a written reply. Pawar was responding to a query about whether the seats had been vacant even after all legal counselling rounds had been completed.
The Supreme Court has given the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health the authority to conduct the counselling.
"The MCC held five rounds of counselling, including a special round, for PG seats for the academic year 2021. 1456 seats were still empty. The empty seats for the deemed universities were reverted back to those universities," she stated.
Official sources confirmed on Saturday that National Eligibility Cumulation Entrance Test (Postgraduate) counselling would start on September 1. During the counselling procedure for admission to All India Quota seats, state medical and dental colleges, and central and deemed universities, students who passed the NEET-PG 2022 exam will be allowed to select the courses and colleges of their choice.
