Digital Desk: A PhD scholar at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Vivek Kumar has been chosen as the new vice-president of the Indian Polar Research Network. The Indian Polar Research Network is a national chapter of Norway's Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS). NEHU's Department of Environmental Studies issued a press release today informing about the wonderful news. Moreover, the press release congratulated Vivek Kumar for his achievement. Notably, the polar sites are the coldest regions on the earth. Therefore, it influences the entire planet's climate. Due to rapid climate and environmental changes, polar studies have become a significant field of research.  Also Read: PM Modi declares January 16 as ‘National Startup Day,’ says startups’ backbone’ of new India  Polar studies highlight how to detect and identify the drivers of climatic changes and how these changes have turned crucial to consider.  Vivek Kumar took charge today as VP in a virtual event organized by the Indian Polar Research Network. Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) is an international and interdisciplinary association constituting early occupation/doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, faculty associates, experts, educators, and others interested in polar and alpine areas and the vaster cryosphere. Vivek Kumar is pursuing his PhD in the department under the direction of Prof Dibyendu Paul. Kumar operates on the transportation, change, and environmental fortune of specified contaminants in aquatic habitats. The department wished him all success in his new position. They also wished that he would contribute to the polar cause in his new position.
