NCERT's next set of books would be titled 'Bharat' rather than 'India'...
Digital Desk: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) panel unanimously approved a proposal to have the next set of books printed as 'Bharat' in place of 'India'.
According to CI Issac, one of the panel members, the names of the new NCERT books would be changed. Issac stated that the proposal was submitted several months ago and has finally been accepted.
The NCERT panel's proposal came amid a dispute over whether the country should be renamed "Bharat." This was sparked earlier this year when the Centre sent G20 dinner invitations to President Droupadi Murmu in the name of "President of Bharat," rather than "President of India," causing a political uproar.
Diving into the Constitution, Article 1(1) states that "India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States."
Following the word 'Bharat' used in various addresses, it was used while preaching the G20 Leaders Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi's Pragati Maidan in September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Bharat' nameplate was displayed on the table.

In a second incident, it was used when PM Modi delivered his inaugural statement at the summit, a sign with the word 'Bharat' was extensively shared on social media.
Meanwhile, the NCERT committee has advised that "Hindu triumphs" be highlighted in textbooks. It has also suggested that 'classical history' be used instead of 'ancient history' in textbooks.
Issac stated that history will no longer be separated into ancient, mediaeval, and modern periods as the British did, which depicted India as being in the dark, oblivious of scientific advancement and understanding.
The committee also proposed incorporating the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into the curriculum of all courses.
