Today, a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the northern coast of Japan near Miyako prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning. Veteran singer Asha Bhosle passed away in Mumbai at the age of 93 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Her funeral will be held tomorrow at Shivaji Park at 4pm
Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle began her singing career at the age of 19 and went on to become one of India’s most celebrated and versatile playback singers.
In recognition of her immense contribution to Indian music, she was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000.
