Digital Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in 17 locations across Assam on Sunday and apprehended an evading Naxal in the Cachar district.
The anti-terrorist agency conducted searches in the Assam districts of Cachar, Karimganj, Dibrugarh, and Dhubri. In the case, one fugitive accused, Reema Orang alias Saraswati, was apprehended in Assam's Dibrugarh district.
During these searches, the NIA claimed to have seized some digital devices and incriminating documents from the CPI-Maoist party.
On March 6, Naxal leader Arun Kumar Bhattacharjee alias Kanchan Da, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), and his associate Akash Orang alias Kajal, a member of the Assam State Organizing Committee of the CPI (Maoist), were arrested from Patimara tea garden under Udarband Police station of Cachar district.
According to the agency, these accused individuals and their associates were involved in the spread of the CPI (Maoist) network in Assam and the North-East region of the country.
The case was initially registered at the Crime Branch Police Station in Panbazar, Guwahati, district Kamrup (Metro), Assam, and was re-registered on March 16 by the NIA.
