Digital Desk: A night curfew has been implemented by the Sivasagar district of Assam in a 5-kilometre stretch that borders Nagaland.

As a preventative step, a curfew has been declared to stop illegal acts, anti-social behaviour, and the movement of extremists on Monday.

A 512-kilometer border connects Assam with Nagaland.

The Nagaland government said that the nighttime curfew, which is in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., will last till December 9.

The Nagaland government statement cited a notification from the Sivasagar district administration that stated that the movement of any individual, group of individuals or vehicular traffic is restricted during the nighttime curfew.
