The declaration by the Assam Chief Minister comes amid rumours about a ministry update ahead of the elections...

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that there will be no cabinet turnover until the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The declaration by the Assam Chief Minister comes amid rumours about a ministry overhaul ahead of the elections.

On Saturday, CM Sarma told reporters in New Delhi, "There will be no reshuffle in the Assam cabinet until the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 are over. "However, after the elections and before the Rajya Sabha elections, there will undoubtedly be a substantial reshuffle in the cabinet."

Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President will not be removed until the Lok Sabha elections.

"State BJP President can never change halfway because he has a fixed term in office," CM Sarma stated. As a result, there is no likelihood of a change in state BJP leadership before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Additionally, the Assam Chief Minister visited Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday during his visit to Delhi. He briefed the Home Minister on the recent flooding in Assam. CM Sarma also thanked Amit Shah for contributing Rs 360 crores from the SDRF fund to Assam.
