The women's team has not received their salaries in the last four months…

Digital Desk: As the women’s T20 World Cup commenced on October 3 in the UAE, the Pakistan women’s cricket team had a major off-field crisis.  Despite Pakistan’s on-field performance, including the recent victory against Sri Lanka. The team has been dealing with a demoralizing situation.  The women's team
has not received their salaries for the last four months.

The delay in the payment is an alarming issue that is raising concerns about the management. This is a worrying incident and shows where the administration of PCB stands when it comes to their women's team.

Understandably, the players are frustrated as they will walk into one of the most important tournaments in their careers without being sure what type of life and financial stability awaits them next! For any sportsperson stable and regular income is not only essential for personal well-being but also for maintaining focus and giving their best at the game.

However, the PCB's hesitance to support the women's team consistently over the years has also been criticized in addition to delayed salaries. While it is true that women's cricket has come a long way globally, the PCB's women players have had relatively fewer playing facilities, contracts, and opportunities. That inability to put the team first has finally bit them on their behind with this salary thing that threatens to wreck their T20 World Cup preparation.

Twenty players were offered a 23-month contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), effective from August 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025. After a 12-month period, the contracts were scheduled for review. However, the players' salaries remain unpaid, and the board has not provided any updates. Consequently, the players have not received their payments since June 2024.

However,  the team continues to show on-field improvement. In the case of Pakistan, their tough and exciting victory over Sri Lanka speaks for itself. The victory provides another glimpse into the hearts the Pakistan, that even though the team has been facing challenges they are willing to fight for every opportunity on the field.
