Across the neighbourhood, massive trees and electric poles were uprooted and fell on buildings or on the streets.

Digital Desk: One individual was killed when an enormous tree fell on him during a violent storm that slammed Silapathar in Assam's Dhemaji district on Wednesday evening.

Ajit Baidya (35), the deceased, has been recognised.

The region had heavy rains and severe gusts, resulting in extensive property damage. Roofs were blown off some houses, destroying them. Across the neighbourhood, massive trees and electric poles were uprooted and fell on buildings or on the streets.

Following the hurricane, the area's power supply was entirely cut off.

Bhairabpur, Silagaon, Manikpur, Kodomtola, Maharanipur, Shivanagar, and Koroibari have been the hardest hit by the storm in Silapathar.

However, vehicular traffic has been hampered on National Highway 15 when a large tree fell across the road.

An old woman died on the spot earlier today as a storm toppled a large tree and fell on her in Dibrugarh. The tragedy occurred at Tamulbari Tea Garden in the district's Lahowal region, where a storm uprooted a large tree, killing the 60-year-old woman.

A massive storm was reported in portions of Assam, inflicting damage to homes and killing livestock, among other things.

According to a local, a large tree fell on the deceased's house at 4.30 a.m. The locals came together to remove the massive tree and admit her to the hospital for treatment, but the physicians proclaimed her dead.
