Mr Singhal claimed that while many Indian governments pay pensions to those imprisoned during the Emergency, Assam provides the "highest" sum.

Digital Desk: The Assam government announced on Wednesday that it will pay a monthly pension of Rs. 15,000 to over 300 people who were imprisoned during the Emergency period.

Addressing a press conference following a cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal said the state government regarded the prisoners jailed during the Emergency as 'Lok Tantra Senani'.

"To commemorate their contribution to democracy, the Assam Cabinet today approved providing monthly pensions to 301 people."" Each month, they will be paid Rs. 15,000. If the guy dies, his wife will receive the money, and if both have died, their unmarried daughter will inherit the money," he explained.

Mr Singhal claimed that while many Indian governments pay pensions to those imprisoned during the Emergency, Assam provides the "highest" sum.

"For months, numerous joint regional committees met to discuss border disputes.""Two days ago, they presented their ideas, and the Assam Cabinet approved them today," he said.

Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804.1-kilometer border in the districts of Udalguri, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Charaideo. Along the interstate border, there are 1,200 places of contention.

Mr. Baruah also stated that the cabinet accepted investment proposals totaling Rs. 8,201.29 crore for eight megaprojects.

"These projects will directly employ 6,100 youths, with an even higher number of indirect jobs," he continued.
