Digital Desk: A road accident in Doomdooma has shocked across the region after a police officer was killed and six others, including two police personnel, were seriously injured.The incident occurred while the police team was on duty, when a private Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number AR 11 A 5334 rammed into them.
The collision left three police personnel and four civilians injured.Among the injured was Sub-Inspector Bubul Sonowal of Doomdooma Police Station, who sustained critical injuries along with police personnel Dulendra Dahotiya and Ubar Sonowal. All three were rushed to Dibrugarh Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
Sub-Inspector Bubul Sonowal later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. He was a resident of Tengakhat in Dibrugarh district.
Following the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, prompting police to launch a search operation.Doomdooma MLA and minister Rupesh Gowala visited the hospital soon after the incident to enquire about the condition of the injured.
The incident has sparked widespread shock and grief across Tinsukia district, with condolences pouring in over the death of Sub-Inspector Bubul Sonowal.
