Digital Desk: In a recent development, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi pointed fingers at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies, attributing the recent security breach in Parliament to the issue of unemployment. "The citizens of the country are not getting employment because of (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi's policy. Unemployment is the reason why the security breach happened," Gandhi asserted during a press interaction.
Gandhi emphasized that unemployment stands as the primary challenge faced by the Indian population today, asserting that Modi's policies are hindering job opportunities. He went on to link both unemployment and inflation to the security breach in Parliament, holding the Prime Minister accountable for the prevailing issues.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge took a sarcastic swipe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of prioritizing media interactions over addressing the matter in the House.
Kharge dismissed Shah's claim that the opposition was politicizing the security breach, stating, "He seeks votes by taking Congress's name, (and) takes votes by abusing Nehru ji and Gandhi ji."
The ongoing rift between the BJP-led Centre and the Opposition intensified over the December 13 Parliament security breach, which coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack. Opposition parties, including Congress, accused the BJP after it was revealed that visitors' passes were issued in the name of BJP MP Pratip Simha to two of the six accused.
The breach involved intruders leaping into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, deploying yellow-colored canisters hidden in their shoes, and initiating slogan-shouting. The chaos concluded after MPs and Parliament security staff overpowered the intruders. Lalit Jha, the alleged mastermind, surrendered to the police on Thursday night.
Following the incident, four accused, including the intruders, were remanded to 7-day police custody, while Lalit Jha faced a similar fate a day later. One more accused, Mahesh Kumawat, has been detained in connection with the security breach. The situation remains tense as political blame games and investigations unfold.
