PCB has confirmed Inzamam-ul-Haq's resignation as chairperson of both the national and junior men's selection committees...

Digital Desk: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed Inzamam-ul-Haq's resignation as chairperson of both the national and junior men's selection committees. PCB will now designate his replacement and a thorough schedule will be made public shortly.

Inzamam voluntarily chose to resign from his position on October 30, allowing the PCB to conduct an independent investigation into the claims of conflict of interest. If proven not guilty, the former Pakistan captain stated he would return to his post as top selector.

On August 7, Inzamam was appointed chairperson of the national men's selection committee, and after a successful tenure, he was appointed chairperson of the junior men's selection committee the following month.

The PCB has established a dedicated five-member team to properly investigate these allegations. This investigation committee has been charged with fact-checking the complexities of the allegations of a conflict of interest in the sports team selection system.

Notably, Inzamam expressed dissatisfaction with the notion that he and senior national team players had a conflict of interest. Inzamam selected a 15-man side led by Babar Azam for the Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

It was Inzamam's second spell as chief selector, having previously held the position from 2016 and 2019.

According to local media sources, Inzamam is a shareholder in "Yazo International Limited," which is owned by cricketers' agent Talha Rehmani.

This alliance has piqued the interest of some senior team players, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Pakistan is currently competing for a spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. On November 11, they will meet reigning champions England in their last group-stage match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
