Digital Desk: Over 15 bilateral meetings with foreign leaders will be held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, which will be held on September 9–10.
Reports state that on September 8, the Prime Minister will meet separately with his counterparts from Bangladesh and Mauritius at Lok Kalyan Marg. On the same day, he will also have a private meeting with US Vice President Joe Biden.
Later tomorrow, PM Modi will meet separately with his counterparts from the UK, Rishi Sunak, and Japan, Fumio Kishida. He will have a private meeting with Giorgia Meloni, his Italian colleague. In addition, the Prime Minister and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will meet in private.
On September 10, PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will meet for a working lunch. He will meet privately with Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada. With the leaders of the Comoros, Turkey, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Brazil, the European Union, and the European Council, he will have bilateral meetings.
Notably, India is holding the G20 Leaders Summit in the nation's capital at the recently inaugurated Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan. International dignitaries have begun to arrive in India for the G20 Summit.
The European Council President Charles Michel, the President of Argentina, Alberto Angel Fernandez, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and several other world leaders have already arrived in India for the G20 Summit.
The G20 Summit is being held for the first time when India is in the presidency. The G20 was formed in 1999 to maintain global financial stability by including middle-income nations.
On December 1 of last year, India took over as G20 president and 60 cities around the nation hosted 200 G20 meetings. The culmination of all G20 processes and talks with ministers, senior officials, and civil society will take place during the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi.
Brazil will assume the next G20 leadership in 2024, followed by South Africa in 2025.
