Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted a picture of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing an Assamese traditional 'Gamosa' as he headed to the United States.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a long flight to the US on Wednesday. Modi has shared a picture on his Twitter handle with the caption, "A long flight also means opportunities to go through papers and some file work."

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma further reacted to Modi's tweet and posted, "It is a goosebump moment seeing Adarniya Pradhan Mantri @narendramodi ji wearing an Assamese Gamosa as he embarks abroad. His constant efforts to showcase North East's culture to the global arena, fills all of us with pride. Thank you Modi Ji."


MLA Diganta Kalita tweeted as a reaction after looking at the picture of Modi, "Even through a long & tiresome flight, Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji's spirit to work for our country remains undeterred. Also feeling privileged to see our pride Gamusa on Hon'ble PM. Extremely grateful for such a determined leader."

Modi departed for the United States on Wednesday, where he will meet with US President Joe Biden for the first time on Friday. On the very day, Biden will conduct the maiden Quad-country summit.

Prime Minister Modi, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga will attend the summit.

Before his departure, Modi stated that he will conclude his trip with an address to the UN General Assembly, where he will present significant global problems such as the Covid-19 pandemic vaccine, terrorism, climate change, and other driving matters.
