PM Modi will make the journey to Japan on September 27 to attend the state burial, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Digital Desk: On September 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Japan to attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated in July.

Japan's longest-serving prime minister, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated on July 8 while giving a campaign speech in western Japan ahead of the House of Councillors election on July 10.

PM Modi and Abe have a strong friendship. He expressed his condolences on the death of his "dear friend" Abe, saying the former Japanese prime minister committed his life to making the world a better place.

PM Modi will fly to Japan on September 27 to attend the state burial, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

During his visit, he will also meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida individually.
