Digital Desk: Cachar Police in Assam recovered Rs 35 crores in narcotic Yaba tablets and detained two people during an operation on Wednesday, reported police officials.
According to preliminary information, the narcotics were found during an operation on national highway 37 near Banskandi hamlet, around 13 kilometres from Silchar.
A statement by officials revealed that a Bolero vehicle was detained and examined, and the Yaba tablets were discovered and seized inside.
According to sources, up to 1,70,000 pills smuggled in 17 packs were seized during the operation. Officials believed that the illicit substances were worth approximately Rs 35 crores in overseas markets.
During the same operation, officials apprehended two people accused of smuggling. Kipjen and Laldomsa Hamar were identified as the accused involved in the smuggling.
The police also seized the vehicle used to smuggle the drugs, with the registration number AS 022 D 8657.
It should be noted that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their efforts in smashing the massive consignment.
