Digital Desk: President Droupadi Murmu will pay a two-day visit to Assam, where she will speak at the Gauhati High Court's Platinum Jubilee celebrations on April 7. The High Court's Platinum Jubilee will be attended by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Chief Judge of Gauhati High Court Sandeep Kataria, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.


President Murmu will be in the state for two days beginning April 6. During her visit to the state, the President will also launch the 'Bhoroxa' mobile app for women's protection, a High Court official said on Sunday, and will attend the 'Gaj Festival-2023' at Kaziranga National Park.

 

Week-long platinum jubilee celebrations began on April 1

The High Court's week-long platinum jubilee celebrations began on April 1 with a bicycle procession, followed by a friendly cricket match between the Chief Justice XI and the Chief Minister's XI.


Rijiju will release a commemorative stamp of the High Court on April 5, along with the Assamese version of the book "Gauhati High Court: History and Legacy."


Union Ports and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will also attend the ceremonies on April 6 and release six volumes on the customary laws of Assam's Rabha, Tiwa, Zeme-Naga, and Bodos, Arunachal Pradesh's Nyishis, and Tripura's Halams.


The Chief Justice of India will also launch two apps for Assam on the online e-sewa Kendra, as well as integrated CIS and e-Prisons apps. The last programme will be a lecture by former Chief Justice of India UU Lalit on April 8.
