Farmer leaders have declared a four-hour "rail roko" protest on 10th March, demanding a legal guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) among other grievances.
Digital desk: Protesting farmers, under the leadership of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), are going to start the Delhi Chalo march on 6th March, demanding various reforms from the central government. In response to this announcement, the police have heightened security measures at the Punjab and Haryana borders.
On 3rd March both the protesting parties gave a call to farmers from across the country to reach the national capital today. The mobilization came after the "Delhi Chalo" march was halted by security forces on February 13, prompting farmers to establish camps at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points.
While farmers from Punjab and Haryana are holding ground at these border points, counterparts from other states are expected to join the movement in Delhi. Adding to the intensity, farmer leaders have declared a four-hour "rail roko" protest on 10th March, demanding a legal guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) among other grievances.
The upcoming 'rail roko' protest, scheduled from 12 pm to 4 pm, aims to reach the farmers' voices nationwide. Moreover, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' in Delhi on March 14, with participation from over 400 farmers' organizations, urging the government to fulfill their demands.
Delhi Police has increased security at key border points, including Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur. Additional forces have been deployed at railway stations, metro stations, and bus terminals to ensure public safety amidst the protests.
