The email targets the explosion in bustling hubs such as restaurants, temples, buses, and trains.

Digital desk: The Karnataka government was thrown into a state of alarm after receiving a bomb threat via email on Monday. The message was sent from an individual named Shahid Khan, who warned of an explosion in Bengaluru on Saturday at precisely 2:48 pm.

Addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the Home Minister, and the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, the email targets the explosion in bustling hubs such as restaurants, temples, buses, and trains. It also hinted at the possibility of bombs being planted during public events, escalating concerns over public safety.

Adding another layer of dread, the sender demanded a ransom of 25 million dollars (above 20 crore). In response to this grave situation, authorities swiftly took action. A suo moto case was registered without delay, signaling the government's determination to tackle the threat. Security measures were ramped up across the city as law enforcement agencies were working to know the origin of the threat and identify the person or group behind it.
