Digital Desk: The emphasis on India and its culinary skills has reached new heights in the ever-evolving world of global cuisine in 2023.

Taste Atlas, a prestigious culinary guide based in Croatia, has long been an advocate for the variety of Indian cuisine, featuring its unique dishes and landmark establishments on numerous global lists.

The announcement of Taste Atlas' "100 Best Cuisines in the World List" sent shockwaves through the culinary scene, with India landing in 11th place. Surpassing gastronomic behemoths such as the United States, Thailand, and South Korea.

Indian cuisine was ranked 11th, with a notable score of 4.52 — only 0.02 points behind Peru's position. Italy, Japan, Greece, Portugal, and China took first and second place, respectively, but India's culinary legacy shone strongly among the global elite.

Four Indian entries made it into the top 50 of Taste Atlas' "100 Best Dishes in the World" list. The Butter Garlic Naan, a popular snack in India, came in seventh place with a score of 4.67.

The much-loved Murgh Makhani, or Butter Chicken, came in 43rd place with a score of 4.54. Notably, Tikka and Tandoori made an impression, ranking 47th and 48th, respectively, with a score of 4.54.

In addition to particular dishes, the culinary guide has previously recognised Indian landmarks such as Paragon and Peter Cat on its list of the World's Most Iconic Eateries, underlining Indian cuisine's global significance.
