Digital Desk: Rajkumar Duwara, a resident of Namti Dol in Sivasagar, is redefining political persistence in Assam. For him, contesting elections is more than a pursuit of power, but it is a lifelong passion.
Duwara has made the bicycle his political identity, using it to navigate every campaign.
Since 2004, he has contested a total of ten elections, including both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
Earlier, he contested on tickets from RCPI and the All India Forward Bloc, but now he is contesting as an independent candidate in 2026 Assam Assembly Elections from the Sivasagar constituency.
Despite facing repeated defeats, Rajkumar Duwara has not lost his confidence. Having contested elections 10 times between 2004 and 2024, he is hopeful of securing 50,000 votes in the upcoming election.
According to his past performance, he received 853, 1,405, 699, and 959 votes respectively in the Assembly elections from the Amguri constituency.
In the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, he secured 16,691, 5,766, 4,737, 3,438, and 8,370 votes respectively.
In total, he has received 3,916 votes from four Assembly contests and 39,002 votes from five Lok Sabha contests.
