Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for several northeastern states, forecasting thunderstorms, strong winds, and intense rainfall over the next two days.
29th April , 2026- A Red Alert has been sounded for Tripura, where thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 50–60 kmph are expected, along with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.
Similarly, Meghalaya is also under a Red Alert, with predictions of thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 40–50 kmph. The state is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with chances of extremely heavy rain in isolated areas.

30th April, 2026- A Red Alert will continue for Tripura, with similar conditions of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds of 50–60 kmph, and heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated locations.
Other parts of the Northeast are expected to remain under an Orange Alert, with thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds of 50–60 kmph, and heavy rainfall predicted in isolated areas.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions, and follow safety guidelines issued by local administrations.
