Digital Desk: The Covid-19 caller tune was introduced two years ago, weeks after the pandemic reared its ugly head in the country. An article indicated that caller tunes promoting awareness of the Covid-19 pandemic and urging citizens to get vaccinated against the virus may soon disappear. After a substantial resurgence in cases last year, largely due to Omicron's rapid spread, cases of Corona virus are on the decline. Two years ago, the Covid-19 caller tune was introduced, weeks after the pandemic broke out in the country. Operators, including Bharti Airtel, BSNL, Reliance Jio and Vodafone-Idea, replaced their caller tunes per government guidelines issued in March 2020. It began with a sound of people coughing and sneezing and a warning about the precautions that should be taken in order to avoid getting infected. It was later replaced in January 2021 with the voice of Amitabh Bachchan. Using Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan, 'dawaai bhi, kadaai bhi' (medicine and caution), the new campaign advised people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
