Digital desk: Based on data released on the Election Commission's website on Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress, and the Trinamool Congress are the top three political parties that benefited from the electoral bonds.
Following the Supreme Court's directive, the State Bank of India delivered the electoral bond data to the electoral body, which in turn made it publicly available.
The data indicates that this information was made available to the public after the Supreme Court ordered the State Bank of India to provide the necessary information.
Through electoral bonds, the BJP was able to secure funds of over Rs 6,061 crore, TMC, Rs 1,610 crore, and Congress, Rs 1,422 crore. Biju Janta Dal won Rs 776 crore, and Bharat Rashtra Samithi received Rs 1,215 crore.
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Shiv Sena, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSR Congress), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), SP (Samajwadi Party), and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) are the other political parties that have received funding from the electoral bond fund.
The BJP encashed the greatest value of bonds, accounting for 47% or Rs 6,060 crore of the total, according to a prior statement from the SBI. TMC, with 13% or Rs 1,609 crore, and Congress, with 11% or Rs 1,421 crore, came next. Bonds of Rs 16,518 crore were issued by the SBI in 30 installments between April 2019 and February 15, 2024.
