Sources claim that the problem was personal and involved a land dispute between two families from the Pnar and Karbi tribes.

Digital Desk: On April 17, a disagreement between two communities erupted at the disputed Block I region of West Jaintia Hills, bordering West Karbi-Anglong in Assam, after a group of individuals from the Karbi tribe allegedly attempted to grow broom grass on a piece of property held by a Jaintia family.

The land is reportedly owned by a Jaintia family from the Raliang Police Outpost-controlled town of Moojem in the Mooliber region.

Sources claim that the problem was personal and involved a land dispute between two families from the Pnar and Karbi tribes.

It was revealed that a few Karbi family members had earlier contacted a Jaintia family to request a lease on the farmed land.

When the Pnar family objected, the Karbi family allegedly tried to forcefully plant broom grass there, which led to a contentious argument between members of the two groups.

If there were no police officers in the neighbourhood, the problem might have become worse, according to sources.
