Digital Desk: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the untimely death of Assam's beloved singer Zubeen Garg has returned to Assam yesterday after completing their inquiry in Singapore.
The SIT team, comprising Assam Police officers, had travelled to Singapore on October 20 to probe the mysterious circumstance surrounding Zubeen Garg's death.
Led by Munna Prasad Gupta, Special Director General of Assam Police, and IPS officer Tarun Goyal, the team conducted an extensive investigation.
They interacted with various individuals in Singapore, visited Zubeen Garg's hotel, met hotel staff, yacht employees, and collected testimonies from relevant parties.
Today, SIT head Munna Prasad Gupta shared details of their investigation during a press conference. He revealed that on October 21, the SIT held a meeting with five Singaporean officials.
During the meeting, Singapore police handed over Zubeen Garg's post-mortem report to the SIT. Additionally, the SIT inspected the location where Zubeen Garg passed away.
The SIT team has formally requested Singapore police to expedite their investigation. They also sought CCTV footage from Pacific Hotel, where Zubeen Garg had stayed, to assist in the inquiry.
Singapore police assured the SIT that they would collect statements from Assamese individuals residing in Singapore and share them with the SIT.
Within the next 10 days, Singapore police is expected to provide the requested CCTV footage and testimonies from Assamese people in Singapore.
If necessary, Assamese individuals who were aboard the yacht at the time of the incident may be summoned again for further questioning, according to Munna Prasad Gupta.
