Acting on secret intelligence, the Barpeta Road SSB and Forest Department, with assistance from railway police, seized 200 kilograms of pangolin skins and body parts during the operation.
Three individuals were arrested for illegal possession of wildlife products. The suspects, identified as Muthaiya Ramalingam, Palani Murugan, and M. Salishwary, are residents of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The individuals supplied the skins and other body parts in 8 bags.
The seized items are estimated to have an international market value of several crore rupees.
Authorities suspect the goods were intended for sale to international smugglers in Guwahati.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
