Digital Desk: A vibrant atmosphere enveloped the Gauhati University campus today as the Postgraduate Students’ Union (PGSU) held it’s much awaiting and long pending general election. The entire campus, from hostels to academic blocks, was abuzz with excitement, slogans, and banners as students exercised their democratic rights.
The election is being conducted for a total of 18 key positions, with polling taking place at three designated centres within the university premises. Voting commenced at 10:00 AM and is set to end at 4:00 PM and more than 4,600 students will be participating in the voting process. The counting of votes will be held tomorrow, marking the culmination of weeks of campaigning.
This year’s election has witnessed intense competition among 48 candidates vying for the coveted posts.Some of the most scrutinized are the President and the General Secretary roles.

· Music Secretary: Khanindra Deka
· Cultural Secretary: Pankaj Medhi
