Digital Desk: Today morning a powerful earthquake shook parts of Assam and Bangladesh, triggering panic across the region. As per to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the quake struck at 10:08:26 a.m. IST on November 21, with a magnitude of 5.2 and an epicentre located in Bangladesh at latitude 23.77°N and longitude 90.51°E, at a depth of 10 km.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake at magnitude 5.5, noting that it occurred 13 km south-southwest of Narsingdi, approximately 50 km from Dhaka. The tremors were felt strongly in Guwahati, its adjoining areas, and several parts of Assam around 10:12 a.m., where residents experienced a sudden and intense shaking lasting a few seconds.
No reports of casualties, injuries, or significant damage have emerged so far from either side of the border. However, many people rushed out of homes and offices as buildings swayed, particularly in multi-storey structures in Guwahati.
