The grieving family alleges that hospital authorities withheld the information regarding the child's death
Digital Desk: On 4th September, a tense situation broke out at Metro Hospital in Nagaon following the death of a 7-year-old child in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to the family, the child, who had been suffering from diabetes-related complications, passed away around 11 AM. However, the bereaved family is accusing the hospital officials of not making the information available about the death of the child until late at night, allegedly, in anticipation of further financial payments.
The situation escalated when the family confronted the hospital staff. After a tense situation, the attending doctor had officially pronounced the child dead, which further intensified public outrage.
As tensions mounted, the district administration and Nagaon police arrived at the hospital to bring the situation under control. The incident has sparked widespread criticism and calls for accountability from the hospital authorities.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
