The makers of "The Kerala Story" changed the trailer of the film on YouTube after it...

Digital Desk: The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, is scheduled to hit theatres on May 5. However, just days before its release, the makers of the movie changed the trailer of the film on YouTube after it sparked outrage for saying in an earlier version that 32,000 women had left the state to join a terrorist group. The cast includes Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani.

According to the latest trailer, which has been shared on Sunshine Pictures' official YouTube page, the film is "a combination of actual experiences of three young ladies from different districts of Kerala... Several innocent women have had their lives systematically destroyed, converted, and radicalized.

For the uninitiated, the film's original trailer, which was released in November 2022, claimed that it told the heartbreaking and gut-wrenching tales of 32,000 women in Kerala.

The Kerala Story's makers made a last-minute change after its original estimate of 32,000 women joining ISIS from the state sparked a political and social uproar, with the CPM-led LDF and opposition UDF demanding that the film be banned from being screened.

The fire was fueled further when the Indian Union Muslim League's section, the Muslim Youth League, issued a Rs 1 lakh prize for anyone who could prove evidence of 32,000 girls joining the Islamic State.

To prove that no one from Kerala has been to Syria to join IS, Hindu Seva Kendra founder Pratheesh Viswanath offered Rs. 10 crores. In addition, blogger K Nazeer Hussain announced on social media that he would give Rs 10 lakh to prove any woman was forced to join IS and lawyer and actor C Shukkur offered Rs 11 lakh to anyone who could name 32 Kerala women who were converted before joining IS.
