Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack against the opposition claiming that they are dividing people based on caste.
His remarks came on a day when the Bihar government released the data of the caste-based survey. The BJP-led central government has come under pressure from opposition parties, particularly the Congress and Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (U), the chief minister of Bihar, to conduct a caste-based census across the entire nation.
"They still do it today, just as when they used to mess with the poor people's emotions. They divided the nation based on caste even back then, and they're still doing it today," as stated by PM Modi.
According to the caste survey report, 63% of the 13,07,25,310 persons in Bihar fall into the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) categories.
The Prime Minister on Monday visited poll-bound Madhya Pradesh where he laid the foundation stones worth Rs 19,000 crore in Gwalior of developmental projects. Madhya Pradesh is set to hold elections for its legislature later this year.
In Gwalior, the PM participated in a large roadshow alongside the chief executive Shivraj Chouhan and the leader of the BJP state unit, VD Sharma. The prime minister was seen waving and addressing the crowd after receiving a warm welcome in Gwalior.
In his speech, Prime Minister Modi claimed that while the BJP exclusively fought to advance the state's development, the Congress party turned Madhya Pradesh into a "Bimaru State." The prime minister also made a strong pitch for the initiatives his party has taken to advance women's equality in the nation.
