Digital Desk: Thieves reportedly left behind a Rs 500 note after finding nothing worth stealing at a house in Sector 8 in New Delhi's Rohini, police informed.

The strange incident took place on the intervening night of July 20–21 and came to light after the homeowner lodged a complaint.

M. Ramakrishna, an 80-year-old retired engineer, claimed in his complaint that he and his wife went to visit their son in Gurugram on the evening of July 19.

"On the morning of July 21, he received a call from his neighbour informing him about a theft at his home. Upon receiving the information, he immediately rushed to his home, where he found the lock of the main gate broken. When he went inside, he learnt that thieves could not steal anything," as reported by the police.

"He told police nothing was stolen but he found a Rs 500 note lying near the main gate,” police added.

He also admitted to authorities that he didn't keep anything valuable in his house.  "Almirahs were intact," he claimed.

Police have filed a case under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code based on the complainant's allegations and are looking for the thieves.

Further investigation into is matter is underway.
