Guwahati: BJP MP Dilip Saikia alleged that third-party political forces including Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) could be behind the attack on police personnel that occurred on Thursday evening at Dholpur village.

MP Dilip Saikia said to the media, “At the recent eviction violence we have observed the same pattern that is followed by PFI. The outfit aims only to create unrest.”

“All the facts related to the matter will come to light only after investigation,” added Saikia.

PFI is a banned outfit in several states and the centre is also in process of making it a proscribed outfit.

Meanwhile, BJP state chief Bhabesh Kalita asserted, “It was a preplanned move to gather people from outside and attack the police personnel.”

The Home and Political departments of the state government have decided to institute an inquiry into the matter under the chairmanship of a retired judge of Gauhati High Court.

During the Dholpur eviction clash, 3 civilians were killed and atleast 18 people were injured including policemen. They are currently under treatment at Gauhati Medical College.
