Digital Desk: Thousands of devotees have gathered in this seaside pilgrim town for Lord Jagannath's annual 'Ratha Jatra' on Tuesday, for which the Odisha government has made extensive arrangements, officials said.

According to Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, more than 180 platoons (1 platoon consisting of 30 personnel) of security forces were deployed in Puri.

A total of 125 special trains will travel to Puri during the time of the festival, and a significant number of CCTV cameras, some of which will be supported by drone cameras, will be functional during the 'Rath Yatra'.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator, Ranjan Kumar Das, anticipates a crowd of over 10 lakh people in Puri on Tuesday when the chariots of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath are pulled to the Shree Gundicha temple.

"The state government has made extensive arrangements in light of Puri's humid and hot conditions. Volunteers are going to sprinkle water on devotees, and a green lane has been established in case of a health emergency," said chief secretary P K Jena.
