Assam gears up to observe Independence Day under heightened surveillance


Digital Desk: With Independence Day approaching, Assam Police are on high alert following a recent drone attack in an area linked to ULFA (Independent). This incident has led to increased security in the state. Senior officials of police officials have held meetings behind closed doors in different districts to evaluate and coordinate safety protocols.


A late-night confidential meeting was convened by the top officers of the city police at Panbazar Police Station in Guwahati. Planning sessions were elaborate and were aimed at security preparations, especially considering a possible threat. A total of more than 100 agencies of private security agencies working in the city were also called to a joint briefing.


Authorities stressed the need for constant vigilance in commercial complexes and residential apartments, urging people to report any suspicious persons or abandoned bags immediately. This will be aimed at ensuring that any subversive activity does not take place during the national celebrations. This top priority is ensuring the safety of citizens since Assam is preparing to celebrate Independence Day under supervision.
