Digital Desk: On Sunday afternoon, eleven people died from heat stroke in Navi Mumbai while attending the Maharashtra Bhushan Award event, which was also attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis.
Many others complained of dizziness and tiredness during the ceremony. The injured were transferred to the hospital. Eight of them died as a result of heat stroke.
Notably, Amit Shah was in charge of prize distribution at the ceremony.
Reportedly, the event was being held on a 306-acre property. The audience began to assemble last night, and the event began this morning at about 11.30 a.m. People have also complained about a lack of adequate water arrangements. The attendees have been served water by the surrounding communities since last night.
Because of the prolonged exposure to the sun, over 120 persons suffered from heat-related health conditions such as dehydration. The majority of the guests were likewise standing squarely in the sun, with little shade. Around 13 of these 120 persons were admitted to hospitals, and 11 of them died as a result.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived at MGM Hospital in Kamothe around 9 p.m. to meet the other patients who had been admitted.
