Prior to the 2018 state assembly elections, the BJP made 299 pledges, one of which was to increase the social pension.

Digital Desk: The Tripura government increased the social pension of over 80,000 beneficiaries as the state prepared for assembly elections.

The beneficiaries' social pension has been increased by Rs 1000, bringing the total to Rs 2000.

According to the BJP-led Tripura government, the increase was made in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 72nd birthday.

Prior to the 2018 state assembly elections, the BJP made 299 pledges, one of which was to increase the social pension.

Dr. Manik Saha, the chief minister of Tripura, announced the choice and asserted that the BJP-led government had already carried out all of his campaign pledges while starting "Har Ghar Susashan" (Good governance at every house).

“The 25 years of communist government, which prioritised their cadres everywhere and neglected the real people, delayed the fulfilment of the promises. Even though it would take more time, we are committed to making the system more hygienic and user-friendly under the direction of PM Modi,” the Tripura chief minister added.
