Digital Desk: In a significant operation against drug peddlers, two men were arrested during a naka checking at Barkuchi near Kamakhya Filling Station on August 3 at 7:40 PM, during a naka checking at Barkuchi near Kamakhya Filling Station.


The arrested individuals were identified as Rahul Kalita (22) of Nowapara, Palashbari, and Hirak Jyoti Kalita of Thakuriapara, Palashbari.


Coming from the Guwahati side, both peddlers were moving in a suspicious manner, and were found carrying two bags.


On checking, suspected cannabis (ganja) weighing approximately 10.276 kg was recovered from their possession.


The entire seizure procedure was recorded through eSakshya videography.


The suspected narcotics were seized as per provisions of the NDPS Act, and legal action has been initiated accordingly.


During preliminary investigation, the arrested peddlers stated that they had brought the suspected ganja from Mangaldai and had travelled by bus.


Further investigation is underway, and possible links are being verified.
