Digital Desk: The mystery surrounding the robbery and murder case of a retired government employee in Mohkhuli, Nalbari, on the night of August 29, has resulted in the arrest of two individuals, ten days after the incident.
In a horrifying robbery in Mohkhuli, 73-year-old Pramod Chandra Barman, a retired employee of the District Commissioner's office, was brutally murdered.
The assailants, a three-member gang, looted gold jewelry and cash from the house.
Pramod Barman's wife, Meera Talukdar Barman, managed to save herself despite the attackers tying up the couple's hands and legs and attempting to kill them.
After ten days, Nalbari police has successfully arrested the suspects along with a young woman. The accused have been identified as Bhaskar Jyoti Deka, a young man from the same area of Mohkhuli, and Mrinmoy Bezbaruah.
Shockingly, Ratul Bezbaruah, Mrinmoy's father had a connection with Pramod Barman's family as he frequently visited his house and had previously done electrical work there.
According to sources, the mobile phone of Pramod Chandra Barman's wife was recovered on the night of September 6.
During an operation in Guwahati, Nalbari police recovered the mobile phone from a young woman, reportedly Mrinmoy's girlfriend.
Mrinmoy, one of the accused, reportedly gifted the mobile phone to the woman. She was later arrested by Nalbari police from Zoo Road, Guwahati.
Currently, the Nalbari police is continuing an interrogation. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Nalbari, Parikshit Lahon, has indicated that other accused involved in the murder will be arrested soon.
