Faf du Plessis is currently unable to field but can bat after suffering a rib injury against Chennai Super Kings.

Digital Desk: In the IPL, Virat Kohli once again made history, marking another significant moment in his great career. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player made history by being the first member of his team to record 100 catches in the T20 competition. When Kohli caught Devdutt Padikkal off David Willey in the 12th over of the 31st game of the IPL 2023, it was his 100th catch overall. To finish his 101 catches, he proceeded by catching Yashasvi Jaiswal off Harshal Patel.

With 109 catches, Suresh Raina currently leads the list overall, followed by Kieron Pollard with 103. However, now that both players have left the IPL, Kohli is in a strong position to overtake them by the 2024 season. With 98 catches, Rohit Sharma is in third place and has a chance to surpass the 100-catch mark this season.

After returning as captain in the previous match and keeping that position for the RR match, Kohli is again in charge of RCB once more in the IPL 2023. Faf du Plessis is currently unable to field but can bat after suffering a rib injury against Chennai Super Kings. Du Plessis has struck back-to-back half-centuries despite his difficulties and will take over as captain once he has fully recovered.

Interestingly, when du Plessis left the pitch against CSK, Glenn Maxwell was handed the captaincy but he was not given the top job against Punjab Kings. From 2013 to 2021, Kohli served as the full-time captain of RCB.
