Digital Desk: India cricket star Virat Kohli has started his training session to prepare for the much-awaited return to domestic cricket. He is set to make a return to the Ranji Trophy for Delhi against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on January 30.

According to reports, he was approached by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) to lead the Delhi team. However, he declined the offer and backed Ayush Badoni to continue with his leadership role.

Virat joined the team's practice session on Tuesday as its match against Railways is scheduled for Thursday. He last appeared in a Ranji Trophy match in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh.

He was spotted honing his batting skills in the nets on Tuesday. He could not join the team for its previous match against Saurashtra due to a neck injury. Kohli's return had prompted BCCI to increase security at the Arun Jaitley stadium.

Indian National Cricket Team players are returning to domestic cricket as part of the BCCI's new guidelines to play domestic cricket while not on national duty.

India skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubhman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishab Pant recently played Ranji Trophy matches for their respective teams.

The Delhi vs Railways match will be free for sports lovers. Since Kohli will feature in the Ranji Trophy match, BCCI is expected to make last-minute arrangements in order to broadcast the game.
