Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of West Bengal will be returning to election campaigns in her wheelchair.

She will be conducting a roadshow from Gandhi Murti to Hazra today and will be addressing the rally at Hazra. This will be Bengal’s Didi’s first public appearance days after sustaining a leg injury.

Working this unfortunate event to her advantage, Mamata on a wheelchair will surely be an image that could evoke the public’s sympathy.

Earlier on March 10, Banerjee was on a two-day visit to Nandigram, where she was allegedly pushed by a few unidentified people and consequently sustained a leg injury.

According to her initial medical examination report, Banerjee had sustained ‘severe bone injuries’ on her left foot and ankles as well as bruises and injuries in her shoulder, forearm and neck. She was subsequently released from the hospital on March 12.

The alleged attack however was ruled simply as an accident in a detailed report submitted to the Election Commission (EC). The report was prepared and submitted by special police observer Vivek Dubey and special observer Ajay Nayak.
