Digital Desk: University professor Monalisa Das is being investigated by the ED in connection with the teacher recruitment scam, following actor and model Arpita Mukherjee who had Rs 21 crore in cash in her apartment. Arpita Mukherjee and Minister Partha Chatterjee were both taken into custody on Saturday. Arpita Mukherjee will appear in court on Sunday, whereas the minister has been sent in 2-day jail.

Here are the most recent developments on the allegedly massive West Bengal teacher recruiting scam:

According to the BJP, Professor Monalisa Das' name has come up in the case. In Santiniketan, Birbhum, she is purportedly the owner of 30 apartments. However, according to reports, Monalisa Das denied all of these accusations.

Dilip Ghosh of the BJP stated that Monalisa had a history of frequent trips to Bangladesh. "The Bengal SSC scam has a long history. I won't be shocked if corruption-related funds are used to pay jihadists or go to Bangladesh via Hawalas "Tweets from Dilip Ghosh.

An ED officer claimed that Arpita Mukherjee was questioned about Monalisa Das, whose name had come up during the earlier probe.

A top ED official claimed Arpita Mukherjee shared information on the "chain" that touts used to collect money from job applicants and then transfer it to officials and politicians, each receiving a specified share. On Sunday, Arpita Mukherjee is most likely to appear in court.

In addition to the Rs 21 crore, 20 mobile phones were also found on Arpita Mukherjee's property.

After spending hours being questioned, Minister Partha Chatterjee was taken into custody on Saturday. He received a two-day ED hold. The 69-year-old minister was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night after becoming sick.

The Trinamool declared on Saturday that if Partha Chatterjee is found guilty in the scam, the government will take action against him. Additionally, he made it plain that he will not be kicked out of the Cabinet just yet.

Arpita Mukherjee and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are linked by the BJP, which has shared images and recordings of occasions where they were both present.

The claims, according to Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, are "baseless and politically driven." Sharing the dais is meaningless in and of itself. Several BJP leaders have been seen sitting on the dais with Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi, who are on the run. Does this imply that BJP leaders are also to blame? They ought to cease making such irrational claims, according to TMC spokesman Kunal Ghosh.

Arpita Mukherjee said she was innocent and that the agency was harassing her as she was being detained on Saturday.

Minati Mukherjee, the mother of Arpita Mukherjee, revealed that her daughter was interested in modelling and first met Partha Chatterjee a few years ago when she was chosen to represent a renowned Durga Puja Committee that Chatterjee supported.
