Digital Desk: Tilak Varma dedicated his celebration to Rohit Sharma's daughter, Samaira, after getting his maiden T20I fifty. Varma's 51-run innings off 41 balls in the second match against the West Indies was the pinnacle of the Indian batting performance.
In the post-match press conference, Varma disclosed the uplifting cause for his unconventional celebration. He spoke about his close relationship with Samaira and how he had told her that he would dedicate his celebration to her if he reached a maiden century or a fifty. True to his word, Varma celebrated his accomplishment by recalling his special friendship with Sharma's daughter.
"It was towards Sammy (Samaira), Rohit bhai's daughter," Varma explained after the game. "I'm rather close to Sammy. I had promised her that anytime I scored a century or a fifty, I would throw a party for her," he told the reporters.
Despite Varma's efforts, India faced a difficult task in the second T20I, as WI won by a thrilling two-wicket margin. The game had dramatic twists and turns, making it an exciting match.
WI appeared to be cruising to victory as they chased a 153-run mark. However, a rapid collapse saw them lose four wickets for three runs in 13 deliveries, putting them in a vulnerable position. At the time, it appeared that India would turn the tables and take triumph from the claws of failing.
