Digital Desk: The Karnataka Health Department is extremely concerned after 12 Covid-19 positive travellers were identified at Bengaluru's KempeGowda International Airport. One of the 12 passengers who tested positive returned from China.

A 37-year-old male from China tested positive for COVID-19 in Bengaluru, according to authorities. The remaining 11 passengers were from high-risk countries. According to sources, four of them have been quarantined at a private hospital, while the remaining passengers have been placed in home quarantine.

All of the samples were forwarded to the National Institute of Virology for genetic sequencing, with findings expected by Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

The 37-year-old male, who arrived from China, is from Agra, Uttar Pradesh. According to police, all 12 were subjected to COVID-19 testing after arriving at the airport in the last three days.

The state health department was concerned about the situation and was waiting for the results.

On Monday, Revenue Minister R Ashok indicated that the new COVID-19 guidelines would be announced this evening or Tuesday morning.

Given the state's deteriorating position, the government was arranging a high-level meeting this afternoon.

There was no need to panic, according to Minister Ashok, because the preventive steps would be considered during the meeting.
