Digital Desk: The new covid variant Omicron, which was first detected in South Africa, has again shaken the nation, bringing a sense of fear.

Notably, many states have issued guidelines to tackle the new variant. On Wednesday, the Delhi government announced to ban all events and gatherings during Christmas and New Year in the national capital.

Additionally, the Delhi government has asked the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to identify the potential coronavirus super spreader areas in Delhi ahead of New Year and Christmas.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has announced in its guidelines that people who are not fully vaccinated against the deadly will not be allowed to enter public areas, including malls, banks, offices and restaurants, from January 1.

The Punjab government also announced that government employees would be exempted from their salary if they didn't provide their vaccination certificate to the concerned authority. Therefore, all the employees have to upload their vaccination certificates on the Punjab government's portal.

Earlier, the Assam government also announced that all the government employees should get vaccinated against the coronavirus if they want salary.

Amid the increase of cases in the nation, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Tuesday stated that there would be no more lockdown in the state and a new SOP will be announced only if the state detects any Omicron cases in future.

Now, the question arises, ahead of Christmas and New Year Celebrations, is it the proper way to handle the covid situation by the Assam government?

Is post-celebration, the state will face the Omicron cases because of negligence by the government?

Now, it remains under question...

Nowadays ahead of the celebrations in all the public places including malls, cinema halls and restaurants huge gathering of masses can be seen, violation all the covid rules and regulations. Also, marriage and other functions have added a spark to it.

Is this not the citizen's responsibility to follow the covid rules and regulations? Or Is this only the sole responsibility of the government to force the citizens to follow it?

As a citizen of India, we also have the responsibility to protect our nation. By following the covid norms, we can save ourselves and our family from the threat of Omicron. Some may think that why we have to follow the norms as till now, Omicron didn't enter in Assam, but there is a saying that 'prevention is always better than cure'. So, we should follow all the norms before it's too late to deal with.
