Guwahati: Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal Chief Akhil Gogoi has been acquitted of all charges by the NIA court and will soon be released on bail. The National Investigation Agency proposed a supplementary charge sheet in the only pending UAPA and sedition case against Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi, days after he was acquitted in another case.

Reacting to the latest development, Mr Gogoi, who has been in jail since December 2019, said the charge sheet was a conspiracy to keep him in jail.

Akhil Gogoi will come under the open sky by today as the NIA court failed to provide any evidence against Gogoi to back the claims of his nexus with the Maoists.

Moreover, NIA will release the other accused which includes Manas Konwar, Krishna Gogoi, Bitu Sonowal, Dhorjyo Konwar.
