Guwahati: State government of Assam has announced financial relief under a new scheme for the street vendors affected by the pandemic.

“To provide financial aid to the street vendors of the state, we will bring a new scheme in 10-15 days,” said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Earlier, the State government announced a one time financial aid of Rs 10,000 to the drivers and the helpers of public as well as private transport.

Also, the State government announced financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to the priests and persons associated with Namghars.

Notably, street vendors are one of the most affected due to the covid induced pandemic. Moreover, the restrictions and curfew imposed in the state due to the pandemic have made it impossible for street vendors to cope with the losses made in their business.

This initiative by the state government would surely bring a sigh of relief to the street vendors of the state.
